Real pages, real output

Manga, manhwa, webtoon. Any language.

Nothing here is mocked up. Every screenshot is straight out of the extension, on a live reader page.

If you read manhwa, you know

Three problems we’ve all lived with.

You found a series you love. The story is everything you wanted. Then you hit chapter 47 and realize what reading manhwa actually looks like.

01

The waiting game.

You find your next favourite series, but the available translation stops halfway through. The next chapter exists — just not in a language you can read.

02

Garbage MTL.

Awkward phrasing pulls you out of the story. Reading manhwa should feel like following the characters, not decoding a puzzle.

03

Site whiplash.

Different reader on every site. Different MTL quality. Different chapter order. Different ad infestation. One series, four tabs, zero fun.

How it works

Your language. One click.

No API keys to configure. Install, choose your language and start reading.

STEP 01

Install.

Add Manhwave to desktop Chrome. Start with 20 free credits without signing up. Confirm your email for 80 more.

STEP 02

Click Translate.

Open a chapter, click the Manhwave icon and choose your target language. Click Translate, then scroll at your own pace.

STEP 03

Read.

Translations sit inside the original bubbles in manga lettering. Hover any line to see the source text. Re-reads are instant thanks to the cache.

Under the hood

Built like a scanlation team. Runs in a tab.

Detection, reading and cleaning happen on your machine. Only the words go out for translation.

On your device
01

Detect

A comic-trained model finds every speech bubble, caption and system panel on the page. No screenshots, no uploads.

On your device
02

Read

OCR runs inside your browser and lifts the text out of each bubble, in Korean, Japanese, Chinese or English.

Manhwave cloud
03

Translate

Only the text is sent. Models tuned for dialogue keep tone, slang and character voice consistent across a chapter.

On your device
04

Clean

Inpainting erases the original lettering and rebuilds the art beneath it. Sound effects and logos are never boxed over.

On your device
05

Typeset

Each line is fitted back into its bubble in manga lettering, sized to match the original and shrunk only when it must.

Your pages stay on your machine. Only the words leave.

Bubble detection, OCR and artwork cleanup run locally. Extracted text is sent to the translation service to turn the dialogue into your chosen language.

Lettering

Looks hand-lettered. Because it nearly is.

Pick a style once. Manhwave measures the original lettering on every page and matches its size, so translated text never looks pasted on.

Not sure about a line? Hover any bubble to see the original text. Learning the language on the side has never been this easy.

Features

Built by readers, for readers.

Every feature exists because we got tired of the workaround. No filler.

Tuned for comics

Built around speech bubbles and comic layouts. Manhwave brings translated dialogue back into the page with lettering designed for manga and manhwa.

Works where you already read

MangaFire, MangaDex, WEBTOON, Asura, MangaPark, MangaSee, Reaper Scans, Tappytoon and beyond. Built for manga and manhwa readers across the web, without a fixed list of sites.

26 languages, any source

From Korean, Japanese, Chinese or English into English, Polish, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Russian, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai, Turkish and more.

Art stays art

Original lettering is cleaned out and the background beneath it reconstructed, so translations sit inside the scene. Results depend on the artwork and page quality.

Instant re-reads

Reopen a saved translation without spending credits again. A new language or a new translation counts as new work.

Private by design

Detection, OCR and artwork cleanup run on your device. Extracted text is sent for translation, while the page images are processed locally.

Annual billing saves 33%. Starter and Plus credits renew monthly, including on annual plans.
A typical manga or manhwa chapter uses about 10 credits, so 1,000 credits is roughly 100 chapters. Free credits are a one-time welcome offer; exact use depends on how much text a chapter has.
*Unlimited is subject to fair use: heavy usage may slow or temporarily pause new translations. See terms.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Still curious? Email contact@manhwave.com.

Does it change the site or the images?
No. Manhwave draws translated text over the page inside your browser. The site, the images and the chapter files are untouched. Use the extension controls to return to the original view.
Which languages can it translate from?
Korean, Japanese, Chinese and English sources are the bread and butter. The on-device reader handles the script, so anything it can read, it can translate into your 26 target languages.
How is this different from Google Lens?
Lens treats a page like a photo of a sign: grey boxes over the art, one panel at a time, and prose that reads like a manual. Manhwave understands bubbles, keeps the art, letters the text in comic fonts and translates the whole chapter as one story, with consistent names and tone.
Does it work on phones?
This website works on phones, tablets and computers. The Manhwave extension currently runs in desktop Chrome.
Is this legal?
Manhwave doesn’t host or distribute manga. It translates text on pages you’re already reading, in your own browser. We’re a translator, not a reader. Always support official releases when they’re available in your language.
What happens to my data?
Bubble detection and OCR run on your device, so page images never reach us. Only the extracted lines are sent for translation. We don’t sell reading history, we don’t run ads and we don’t build profiles.
Which sites does it work on?
Manhwave works across manga and manhwa readers, including MangaFire. It is not limited to a fixed list of domains. Results can vary with the page layout and how images load.
Can I cancel?
You can cancel renewal and keep access until the end of your paid billing period.
Why pay if free MTL exists?
Manhwave brings translation into the reader you already use, with bubble-aware lettering, font controls and saved translations. Try the free credits on your favourite series and judge the result for yourself.
