01Who we are and what you agree to

These Terms of Service („Terms”) govern your use of the Manhwave browser extension, the website at manhwave.com, your Manhwave account and any related services (together, the „Service”). The Service is operated by Manhwave („Manhwave”, „we”, „us”). You can reach us at contact@manhwave.com.

By installing the extension, creating an account, buying credits or a plan, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

02The service

Manhwave is a Chrome extension for desktop browsers. When you activate it on a page, it detects speech bubbles and captions in the comic images displayed on that page, reads the text, sends the extracted text to our servers for translation and draws the translated text over the original bubbles in your browser.

• Detection, text recognition and artwork cleanup run locally on your device. Page images are not uploaded to us.
• Only the extracted text, your target language and the technical data needed to fulfil the request are sent to our servers and to our translation providers.
• The Service does not modify the website you are reading, its files or its images. Translations are an overlay shown in your browser only.
• Translations you have generated are saved to your account so that you can open them again without spending credits.

We may add, change or remove features over time, including supported languages, fonts and the way credits are counted, provided that paid features you have already purchased keep working substantially as described for the remainder of your current billing period.

03Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. If you are younger, you may only use it with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.

You can try the extension with a limited number of free welcome credits without creating an account. To unlock further credits or buy a plan you need an account, which is created with your email address. You agree to:

• provide a valid email address that you control and keep it up to date;
• keep access to your account and email private, and tell us promptly if you believe someone else is using your account;
• use one account per person. Accounts and credits are personal and may not be shared, sold or transferred.

You are responsible for everything that happens under your account until you tell us about unauthorised use.

04Credits, plans and fair use

Translation capacity is measured in credits. Each translation request consumes credits depending on the amount of text on the page, so credit use varies between series and chapters. As a rule of thumb, a typical chapter uses about 10 credits. The extension shows your remaining balance before you translate.

• Monthly credits are added at the start of each billing month. Unused credits expire at the end of that month and do not roll over.
• Re-opening a translation you already generated is free. Translating the same page into a different language, or requesting a fresh translation, counts as new work.
• Credits have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money and cannot be transferred between accounts.
• If we change how credits are counted, we will announce it in advance and it will not reduce the credits you have already received.

Fair use for Unlimited

Unlimited is designed for a single person reading at a human pace, even a heavy one. It is not intended for automated, scripted or bulk translation, for translating on behalf of other people, or for feeding translations into other products or websites. If usage on an Unlimited account is far above what one reader can plausibly consume, or shows patterns of automation or account sharing, we may slow down new translations, temporarily pause them, or contact you about it. We will not charge extra without your agreement.

05Payments, renewals and price changes

Paid plans are sold as subscriptions billed monthly or annually. Prices are shown in US dollars on the pricing page and at checkout. Depending on where you live, VAT or other taxes may be added at checkout or included in the price shown.

• Payments are processed by Stripe, our payment provider. We do not see or store your full card number.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price for your plan, until you cancel. Annual plans renew annually.
• If a payment fails, we may retry it and may suspend paid features until it succeeds. Your account and saved translations are kept during that time.
• We may change prices. Price changes apply from your next renewal and we will notify you by email at least 30 days before a higher price takes effect, so that you can cancel before it applies.
• Promotional prices, discounts and free credits are one-time offers unless stated otherwise and may be withdrawn for new customers at any time.

06Cancellation, withdrawal and refunds

Cancelling

You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account or by emailing us. Cancellation stops future renewals. You keep access to your plan and its credits until the end of the billing period you have already paid for. We do not charge cancellation fees.

Right of withdrawal for consumers

If you are a consumer in the European Union, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to withdraw from a purchase within 14 days without giving a reason. Because Manhwave is a digital service that starts immediately, by completing a purchase you ask us to begin providing the Service straight away and acknowledge that:

• if you withdraw within 14 days, we refund the price paid minus a proportionate amount for the credits you have already used, calculated as the share of the monthly credit allowance consumed;
• once you have used all credits of the billing period, the Service for that period has been fully performed and the right of withdrawal no longer applies to it.

To withdraw, email us within the 14-day window with the email address of your account. A short statement that you wish to withdraw is enough.

Other refunds

Outside the withdrawal right, subscription fees are not refundable for partially used periods. We will always refund duplicate charges, charges made after a confirmed cancellation, and periods in which the Service was unavailable for an extended time because of a fault on our side. If you believe a charge is wrong, contact us before disputing it with your bank so we can fix it quickly.

07Acceptable use

You agree to use the Service only for reading comics for your own personal, non-commercial purposes, and not to:

• circumvent, disable or interfere with credit counting, fair-use limits, authentication or any other protection of the Service;
• reverse engineer, decompile or extract the source code, models or prompts of the extension or our servers, except where the law expressly allows it;
• access our servers other than through the extension, or build a product or service on top of our API without our written permission;
• run automated, scripted or bulk translation, or use the Service to produce translations for redistribution, publication or sale;
• use the Service to translate content you are not lawfully entitled to access, or in breach of the terms of the website you are reading on;
• upload or submit unlawful, defamatory or infringing content, or use the Service to harass anyone;
• share, sell or rent your account or credits.

Translations are generated by automated systems for your personal reading. They are not official translations and you may not present them as such.

08Third-party sites and content

Manhwave works on websites that we do not own or control. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or responsible for any comic publisher, reader site or aggregator. We do not host, store, cache or distribute comic images or chapters, and we do not choose what you read.

• You are responsible for making sure that you may lawfully access and read the content you translate, and for complying with the terms of those websites.
• Website owners change their layouts and loading behaviour without notice. Detection quality can vary between sites and can stop working on a site until we adapt the extension. That is not a defect of the Service.
• We support official releases. When a series is officially available in your language, please consider reading it there.

If you are a rights holder and believe the Service is being used in a way that infringes your rights, contact us and we will look into it promptly.

09Intellectual property

The extension, website, name, logo, design, software, models and documentation belong to Manhwave or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the extension for its intended purpose while these Terms are in force. No other rights are granted.

The text you submit for translation and the resulting translations are handled as described in our Privacy Policy. We claim no ownership of the comics you read. Any feedback or suggestions you send us may be used to improve the Service without obligation to you.

10Translation quality and availability

Translations are produced by machine-learning models. They are usually good, sometimes excellent and occasionally wrong. Names, jokes, honorifics and slang may be rendered differently from an official translation. The original text of every bubble stays one hover away so you can check it yourself.

We work to keep the Service available around the clock, but we cannot promise uninterrupted operation. Maintenance, updates to Chrome, changes to third-party sites and outages at our providers can affect availability. Where the law allows, the Service is provided „as is” and „as available”, without warranties of any kind beyond those set out in these Terms. Statutory rights that you have as a consumer are not affected.

11Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, for intentional misconduct or gross negligence, or for anything else that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of data caused by third-party websites or your own device, or losses arising from your breach of these Terms or of the terms of a website you use the extension on. Our total liability to you for all claims arising from the Service in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period, or 50 US dollars if you paid nothing.

12Suspension and termination

You can stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the extension. You can ask us to delete your account by email; deletion removes your saved translations and remaining credits.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the Service. If we discontinue the Service or terminate your account without you having breached these Terms, we will refund the unused part of any prepaid period. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, liability and governing law) continue to apply.

13Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes in the Service, the law or our business. For material changes we will give you at least 14 days’ notice by email or inside the extension before they take effect. If you do not agree with a change, you can cancel before it applies. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms. The current version is always available at manhwave.com/terms with its effective date at the top.

14Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Poland and applicable European Union law. If you are a consumer, you also benefit from the mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you live, and nothing in these Terms takes those rights away.

If you have a problem, please contact us first; most issues can be solved by email within a few days. Consumers in the EU may also use the European Commission’s online dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. Otherwise, disputes are subject to the courts of Poland, without prejudice to a consumer’s right to bring proceedings in their home country.
